Milling, Drying, and Planing Blackjack Oak

972-537-7006

What
We Built

After this Blackjack Oak was removed by Treehugger Tree Service, the client contacted us to mill the logs then dry and plane the slabs. We milled the 13ft log into three 2.5" slabs, the stump into two cross-sectional pieces, and turning blanks from smaller logs. The slabs spent about five months air drying and fortunately, they air-dried without much cupping or twisting! We cut the slabs into 5' and 8' sections per the customer's request. For best results, each slab was planed before going into the kiln to finish drying. Once they reach a stable moisture content, we will deliver them to the client. We can't wait to see what they become!
